Sounds like the valve in the little box with the buttons is not working. Could just be clogged. It can easily be replaced. Suggest you call Abco. I had to replace mine once a long time.

If liner is too tight it could cause receiver to ride up. Or if too much air builds up inside the liner it will cause it to ride up and eventually pop off if air is not bled off by pushing the button. The one way valve in the end cap is designed to bleed off excess air and not permit air to come in through the valve (one way valve). If this valve gets clogged, it cannot do its job and air builds up with no way out, resulting in ride up and pop off. Make sure valve is functioning, that the ball bearing inside is freely moving (you should hear it rattle when you shake the end cap). Rinse it underwater thoroughly after each session and make sure valve is clear. The other possibility is that the receiver is not sealing properly causing air leakage which exceeds the valves ability expel it. If the valve is constantly letting air out during your session, you may need to tune up the liner to get a better seal, or even get a notch smaller liner.

I’ll second that. Have had mine about same time. Had a Venus II before that. My V2k is as good as new, all these years later. Built like a tank. All I’ve had to do is rebuild receivers from time to time due to normal wear and tear, and the occasional experimentation. Maybe changed a diaphragm years ago.

Thanks for your comments on using oils vs water based lubes. I think lube is the most important factor in the overall mix of variables in using Venus. So many users yearn for greater tactile stimulation from the liner, complaining that the rubber liners are too smooth and need ribbing or nodules to increase sensation. This added “texturizaion” of the liners has proved difficult to achieve. I think the same added stimulus can be achieved by trying different lubes and amounts of lube. Using bare minimal amounts of lube increases tactile sensation with the liner. Water based lubes dry out rather quickly in this scenario however. But oil based lubes, used in moderation, will last a long time. The oil based lube will soak into your skin, causing the skin on your penis to become one with the liner. The best sensations are when the skin of your penis (even when circumcised) move up and down, rather than from a lubed up slippery liner simply sliding over your skin without grabbing hold. It’s a fine line but you’ll know when you get it just right.

The prevailing advice on oil based lubes is that they cause the gum rubber liners to deteriorate more quickly, as the oil soaks into the rubber. This may be true, but in my experience, the reduced liner life if minimal and worth it to have more lube choices in your arsenal.

The very earliest models of the V2000 used a motor with a different gear ratio from what is used today. Mainly though this affected ability to run at very slow speeds. I bought one of the first Venus 2000 machines and recall switching to the new motor a few years later. It made possible a much broader range of speeds. It’s possible you have an older motor. Whatever, I agree with previous poster, it’s probably caused by the motor itself. It can be switched out easily.

Mart, similar to what you do with an eye dropper of lube, I like to add a tiny bit of water to my receiver when it seems to dry out. I use a small squeeze spritz bottle with water, like you would use to clean your glasses. A tiny spray or two of water reconstitutes the lube and increases the slide and pleasure. If I add lube over and over instead of just plain water, eventually it gets too sticky and clogs the endcap valve.

James, I have had the same issue as you describe. Clearly it is related to the rapid increase in blood flow to the penis just before ejaculation, which makes your penis super hard and enlarged. This engorgement presses against the liner and your receiver must displace a little bit pf air to compensate. The end cap valve is suppose to release a little bit of air at this point to compensate, something you would not be aware of normally when everything is working properly. Usually when this problem starts occurring for me, it is a sign that the receiver and especially the end cap valve need a thorough cleaning. Run warm water through it, etc. Blow through end cap to make sure the ball inside is allowing full, unobstructed airflow to pass. You should hear it rattle when you shake it. Better to be proactive than to have your orgasm abruptly aborted just before climax after a long pleasurable build up. Truly a bummer. And has happened to me many times.

If this problem seems to happen even though your receiver is clear and functioning as it is suppose to, you might consider a notch larger constrictor or possible liner too.

Same housing is used with both receives and pumps. Pump is just basically a receiver without a liner.

I have been experimenting with the new textured liner and wanted to pass along some of my testing results and overall impressions. I find the #3 configuration to be the only one that truly works. I used a 2.5″ x 7″ receiver and was able to insert the new textured clear liner inside the gum rubber liner. I found that with the nibbed surface inside (touching my skin) that it provided too much constriction and contact and the whole thing would barely move, no matter how much lube was used and no matter what I did with the air control. I turned the sleeve inside out, with the smooth surface inside (touching my skin) and it worked much better for me. You still feel the texture of the nibs. It strokes very nicely and feels completely different, with a very cushioned feel. The material provides a very tactile experience that grips the skin of the penis as it moves, as opposed to just sliding over it as the standard liner does. The only down side, for me, is that this whole assembly is very large and relatively heavy compared to the standard receiver. It is sometimes difficult to get it to ride up and down without wobbling back and forth. Removing air, so that it strokes lower, improves this so it will be supported steadily by my erection. Also the base seal is not perfect, so the end cap valve occasionally has to let a little air escape on each stroke. But, bottom line, it works and provides what everyone seems to be wanting…..a variation to the standard receiver. Tinkering around with the constrictor so that the base seals better would make this about perfect. Definitely a keeper.

For me, this delivers a sensation quite different from the standard receiver. It’s hard to explain, but it seems that the cushiony feel, almost like normal body tissue, creates a building up of sensation that is long and continuous (as opposed to that created by the overt rubbing in the standard receiver that has numerous spikes and declines during the session). It feels very natural. I agree with others that this textured liner could be shortened and I find that my best sensations are when the top of my penis and frenulum rubs against the top edge of this liner, with the stroke taking the top edge of liner back and forth over the top of my penis.

Since I was a bit bothered by the overall mass and instability of the 7″ receiver, I decided to build a 2.5″ x 5″ receiver (Abco can sell you 5″ housings in any diameter). I used a 2.25 gum rubber liner and a standard 2.12 base constrictor. I threaded the clear textured liner into the middle of this, smooth side in. Because this set up uses a smaller liner (2.25′), the textured liner doesn’t fit perfectly and so has a gusset or wrinkle, which if positioned right only adds more stimulation. It was difficult to assemble this and I broke several liners trying to stretch a 2.25 liner over a 2.5″ cylinder. But I finally got it done but the end result was not perfect. Like the other one, I have seal problems at base and some air leakage. But this little guy works very well too and I think I would like it even better than the longer one if I could get everything built right and airtight. I had hoped that this 3rd party constrictor http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pure-Silicone-Universal-Penis-Pump-Replacement-Sleeve-Donut-Better-Seal-Suction-/141337469031?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e85ea067
would fit on this set up but it would not fit, even through it is quite stretchy, due to the 2.5″ housing and added thickness of the wrapped over nibbed liner.

By the way, do not be afraid of using a receiver shorter than the length of your penis. You just let it ride you higher on your shaft. Even though I’m north of 7″, my favorite length standard receiver has been about 6 1/2″ (I sawed housing off myself). And I recently experimented with a 5″ receiver and I have been very impressed with the little 2″x5″housing that I built with the standard set up (2″ liner x 1.87″ constrictor). To me this is what a real head massager should do, even though I realize an official “head massager” is a totally different thing and is not used with an end cap. My 5″ receiver is a very lightweight, nimble receiver that you use to ride high, meaning you position it higher on your shaft via the air controls and it strokes the most sensitive part of the penis. With a “5” setting on internal stroke length setting, this little guy will put you in orbit! Remember that using a shorter receiver does not mean you have to have a shorter penis to use it. You just use it in a different way. It’s sort of the sports car of receivers. The less mass (receiver weight) you need to propel with air from the reciprocating diaphragm, the better and more nimble it is and the better your erection can support it hands free.

I’m glad to see the clear textured liner being offered by Abco, and I think it has a real place in the Venus lineup. It gives folks more options, as well as a reason to experiment. I’m sure many of us have or have tried a “Fleshlight” or similar. This has led a lot of us to want to somehow combine them, to figure out a way for the Venus to power a Fleshlight. I even once modified a Fleshlight for my Venus, with mixed results, but it did work, sort of. This new textured liner finally makes that possible to an extent. One observation that I have though is that these liners are all one size, one diameter, even though they are stretchy. In my case I’ve decided that this textured liner is just too tight with the nibbed side in. But I can imagine those with thicker penises having a problem with these in any configuration. The beauty of the Abco liners is they come in so many sizes, so they can be precisely fit to ones anatomy, like shoes. But within the confines of a larger standard Abco liner, these liners will work for most people, providing another toy in our toy boxes.

I’m also impressed with the little “cups” or base sealers (actually designed for penis pumps) that are available and that fit perfectly on to the Venus cylinder. This set up is cheap and comes in 3 different diameters for instance:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Interchangeable-Vacuum-Seal-Sleeve-For-Handsome-Up-Penis-Pump-Erection-Aid-/380411276094

I was VERY impressed with the enhancement in sensation that these little cups produced, almost more than anything I’ve ever tried. But over time I found that I did not want that much stimulation all the time, and they actually made me sore after a couple sessions. But I go back to them now and then. I’ve built a receiver dedicated to using one of these. It’s just another option in my “toy box” of different Venus attachments.

This is another even more robust constrictor available from Handsome. It fits very well on a 2″ cylinder and provides a very snug fit and seal. Strokes well and hugs your shaft well. I use it on outside of the receiver/liner, with the cone shaped tail inserted into the receiver. Comes in black as well.

Thanks Ian and Oldguy. I just ordered a couple sets of these and am amazed at how much it enhances the Venus experience. Have only used on outside so far but will build another receiver soon with one of these replacing the normal constrictor. This thing really ramps up everything. I never have pop off problems either and the standard constrictor made from a piece of liner material worked just fine for me, but this thing takes it to a whole new level. The evenhanded tighter grip this delivers makes it possible to stroke anywhere on your shaft…low, high, over frenulum, wherever, and with no pop off. Can’t get enough. I’m a kid with a new toy again. I can see all kinds of other possibilities with this, like maybe using it on a head massager or in conjunction with the new stroke sleeve.

I have been experimenting with this new Stroke Sleeve. I used the #1 configuration and my usual 2″ liner, 1.88″ constrictor, with the liner inserted through the Stroke Sleeve. It worked but constantly rode up and popped off. So I rebuilt it again thinking that with all this new material crammed into the receiver I must have a bad seal at the base creating an air leak. The rebuilt receiver still popped off. Testing did not show any air leaks in the receiver. It really felt like I was just too constricted with this Stroke Sleeve not able to expand enough to accommodate the girth of my penis and just would ride up a little on each stroke. So then I decided to just remove my 1.88 base constrictor altogether, thinking that if my problem is too much constriction, this would help. So my liner going up through the Stroke Sleeve was my only base constriction. It did not work and the pop off problem was only worse.

My take on this is that I’m just a little too big for this Stroke Sleeve and the laws of physics take over and squeeze my penis so much that it inches up a bit on each stroke until if frees itself and pops off. I could try a notch bigger liner (2.12) but doubt this would help and wonder if I could even get it inserted wrinkle free into the center of the Stroke Sleeve. It almost seems like this would work better with the Stroke Sleeve next to your skin, inserted into the liner, rather than the other way around. This would require the use of a liner slightly larger than 2″ and I notice Abco did not recommend this and seems to think the Stroke Sleeve would wear out or not work right in this type of set up (maybe they tried it?).

I was able to overcome the pop off problems by overuse of air control valve long enough to evaluate the sensation the use of the Stroke Sleeve provides. I definitely could feel the difference. It felt softer and more cushioned, but really not that much better. If the Sleeve and the little textured nibs were in direct contact with your skin it would be better. Also this makes for a much heavier receiver and it makes riding your erection hands free that much more tricky. Lot’s of wobbling going on until you get everything balanced and stroke length right.

My next test will be the #3 configuration and I’ll post the results as soon as I can acquire the necessary materials.

Slow and steady is best for me, although it clearly is individual preference. Extremely fast just turns into a blur and you can’t feel each separate stroke and it can almost numb you. Fast does not equate to better or more sensation in other words. The gear motor of the Venus allows very slow stroking. The complete range of speeds, for me, is important to finding the right match of stimulation for the particular mood or situation I’m in.

A small dab of lube onto your pubic hair will prevent Venus from tugging on your pubes on the down stroke. No need to shave unless you want to. Actually pubic hair serves a cushioning function as well.

The consensus of opinion use to be that any non water based lube would deteriorate the rubber liner material more quickly, so it was not recommended to use olive oil, mineral oil, baby oil, etc, even silicone lubes. For the most part I’ve stuck with ID Glide and agree with everyone else it is about the best. But there have been occasions that I have used oil based or silicone based and I think if you wash out the liner afterwards any deteriorating effects of the non water based products is minimal. No matter what you do your liners will eventually wear out and need replacing, but they last a long time.

I always try not to overdo it with lube however as too much lube inevitably leads to the plugging up of the end cap valve. Also I have found that limiting lube creates a more “tactile” or mildly abrasive feeling that is more stimulating than sloshing around in a sea of lube. I like my liner to mildly “grip” the skin of my penis and actually move the skin up and down, not just slide over it as too much lube will cause to occur. It is a delicate balance to get just the right amount.

Lately I have been diluting my ID Glide with about 10% water and find that the slightly less viscous lube allows me to use less and create the more tactile feeling I like. I also seems to reduce valve plugging a bit. The type and amount of lube you use has an huge impact on how your Venus feels and performs.
